Prophet Punches teenager Blind, claims He has “Hands of God”

In what sounds like a scene from a Nollywood drama with too much pepper soup and not enough divine intervention, the Cross River State Police Command has arrested the founder of a local church after he allegedly turned his holy hand into a heavyweight weapon.

Self-proclaimed prophet, David Nyong Okon, founder of The God of A Stainless Hand International and The Land Of Settlement Fellowship—a church whose name alone can fill an entire offertory envelope—was arrested for allegedly punching a 19-year-old girl so hard she lost her sight.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, May 31, when the prophet was apparently driving with the recklessness of someone late for a miracle crusade.

The victim, Godsgift Edem Edet, and her friend questioned his erratic driving near The Home restaurant, located beside the Calabar Municipal Council Secretariat. Unfortunately, their inquiry—spoken in a language the prophet found offensive—was met not with a prayer, but with a punch.

Sources say the ‘man of God’ tried to make a quick getaway, but street youths who clearly weren’t buying miracle water held him back and insisted he take the victim for treatment.

After an unholy delay, he brought her to a pharmacy on Marian Road and eventually to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), where he allegedly became rude, uncooperative, and then mysteriously disappeared—leaving the girl behind like an unwanted Sunday bulletin.

Doctors attempted surgery to save her eye, but the damage was reportedly beyond repair.

The so-called prophet is now under police custody while the community watches with righteous indignation—and perhaps a little side-eye at any future altar calls he might attempt to lead.

As for the church with the heavenly-sounding name? Locals are now calling it “The Land of Left Hooks and Delayed Healing.”

Moral of the Story: Not every hand that lays upon you is anointed. Sometimes, it’s just assault.
