Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has nominated four additional individuals for appointment as Commissioners, bringing the total number of nominees to 16 as part of his ongoing efforts to form a robust and inclusive State Executive Council.
The new list was sent to the Ondo State House of Assembly on Saturday in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.
The nomination comes a week after the Governor forwarded the names of 12 Commissioner-designates, who are currently undergoing screening by the House.
The latest nominees are:
Pastor Bola Ademuwagun
Engr. Leye Akinola
Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka
Hon. Adesoji Afolabi
Governor Aiyedatiwa, in the letter, stated that the nominations are made in accordance with the powers granted under Section 192 (1&2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
“I shall be most obliged to the Honourable House for your expeditious action on this request in the overall interest of our dear State,” the letter read in part.
The Governor’s move is seen as a strategic step toward strengthening governance and ensuring effective delivery of his administration’s agenda across all sectors.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, confirmed the development in an official press statement issued on Saturday.
Political observers in the state are closely watching the confirmation process as it unfolds, particularly with regard to the balance of technocrats and politicians in the new cabinet.
The State Assembly is expected to commence the screening of the four additional nominees in the coming days.
