Former NYSC State Coordinator in Ondo State, Mrs. Grace Akpabio, has charged Corps members at the ongoing orientation camp in Ikot Itie Udung, Akwa Ibom State, to embrace the mantle of leadership with integrity, purpose, and patriotism.
Delivering a stirring motivational lecture during her visit to the camp, Mrs. Akpabio described youth as leaders in waiting, emphasizing that leadership is not a title but “influence backed by character.”
“You must begin now to prepare for the responsibilities ahead,” she told the attentive Corps members.
“True leadership is rooted in integrity, honesty, empathy, and active listening. It’s about nurturing others and setting a positive example.”
Mrs. Akpabio urged the Corps members to believe in themselves and in the future of Nigeria, reminding them that the change the country needs can begin with them.
She further encouraged the acquisition of vocational and entrepreneurial skills during the service year as a step toward self-reliance and national development.
The lecture was warmly received by the Akwa Ibom State NYSC Coordinator, who lauded Mrs. Akpabio’s message and reinforced the call for Corps members to shun corruption and every form of social vice.
The motivational session formed part of ongoing efforts to reorient and empower Nigerian graduates as agents of positive change through the NYSC scheme.
