A domestic dispute in Idanre local government Area of Ondo state turned fatal on Friday, June 27, 2025, when 26-year-old Gabriel Pius allegedly stabbed his younger brother, 22-year-old Abu Simon, to death.
The incident was reported promptly by a family acquaintance, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect by detectives from the Idanre Division.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Adebowale Lawal addressed newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Akure on Friday to provide updates on this and other ongoing cases. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life resulting from this domestic altercation. Our detectives have moved swiftly to ensure justice will be served,” he said.
The Commissioner confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further discreet investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
He said, “On 27th June 2025, at about 2000hrs, Gabriel Michael ‘m’ reported the fatal stabbing of one Abu Simon ‘m’ (22) who is now deceased, by his younger brother, Gabriel Pius ‘m’ (26), following a domestic altercation.
“Detectives from the Idanre Division promptly arrested the suspect, and the case has been transferred to the State CID for discreet investigation and prosecution.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”

Police Recover ₦41 Million Worth of Stolen Livestock
The Commissioner also updated the press on the recovery of stolen livestock reported on July 1. Prince Fasua Peter Oyeleye had reported that his employee, Ali Garuba Muhammed, absconded with 55 cattle and 8 sheep/rams valued at ₦41 million.
“Thanks to the swift action of our Anti-Kidnapping Section, 22 of the stolen cattle were recovered within 48 hours,” Lawal stated.
He added that the primary suspect remains at large, but the police are intensifying efforts to recover the remaining animals and bring all responsible persons to justice.

Notorious Cultist Arrested in Owo
The Commissioner further revealed that on July 1, acting on intelligence, police arrested 28-year-old Olujide Boluwaji Israel (aka Kendowell), a senior member of the Eiye Confraternity terrorizing students and residents around Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
“The arrest sends a clear message to criminals that Ondo State remains a safe place for law-abiding citizens,” the Commissioner declared.
Kendowell is currently in police custody while investigations continue to apprehend his fleeing accomplices.
