••• Aiyedatiwa backs New Poroye’s Bold Logistics Plan
In a move set to revolutionize transportation in the riverine areas of Ondo State, the newly appointed Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Biyi Poroye, has announced the imminent deployment of solar-powered speedboats as part of efforts to tackle longstanding logistics challenges.
Poroye made this announcement during a celebration party hosted in his honour, adding that the boats will serve as an eco-friendly and efficient solution to movement difficulties within the oil-producing communities.
He emphasized that the initiative is one of several action points already approved by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and aligned with the administration’s developmental blueprint.
“In the coming weeks, we will go around the riverine areas, and people will begin to see performance. We have also looked at our environment and discovered that one of our problems is logistics, especially in areas of transportation. In the coming weeks, we will have solar-powered speedboats,” he said.
It was a historic event, filled with pageantry and encomium, at the celebration party hosted by friends and associates to honour Prince Biyi Poroye on his appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
The reception, held on Saturday at the Banquet Hall of Dejavu Hotel and Suites, Alagbaka, Akure, had in attendance the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking at the reception, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked Prince Poroye for the role he played in his political journey and described him as a wonderful friend and brother who may not often be seen at the forefront but is always supporting and working from behind the scenes.
Reassuring the Chairman and other Board members, Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that the State Government is ready to support the new Board in full capacity. According to him, the effectiveness of a leader’s performance also depends on the nature of the followers.
“The job will be easy. Today, we are rejoicing and happy as some other people are benefiting from the same struggle. It is not for us; it is for the State and democracy,” Aiyedatiwa declared.
In his opening remark, the Chairman, Planning Committee, Mr. Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson who’s the Director-General and Chief Executive of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), applauded the Governor’s visionary leadership in constituting a Board that promises to drive development in the oil-producing areas of Ondo, the Sunshine State.
He extolled Prince Biyi Poroye as a worthy candidate who will bring unprecedented development to the mandate areas.
“The OSOPADEC Board comprises esteemed individuals, led by Prince Biyi Poroye, who will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their new roles. May their efforts be fruitful and bring prosperity to the people of the mandate areas, in line with the OUR EASE Agenda,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimitan, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), expressed his deep appreciation to the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the honour of appointing Prince Poroye as Executive Chairman of OSOPADEC.
“We are here today to celebrate one of us, Prince Poroye. It is a moment of joy and pride for all of us, as I am sure and I know that Biyi will excel by the grace of God; he will not be a disappointment.
“To all of us who are gathered here, wherever you find yourself, do it very well. You are doing it for posterity, because whatever you do, posterity will judge. This is our time. All we need now is total support for the Governor and the Chairman to carry out the mission and achieve the vision for the State and the mandate areas,” he remarked.
In his appreciation speech, Prince Poroye thanked the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the timely appointment and eulogized him for being a mentor, leader, and teacher. He also expressed his appreciation to all his family members, friends, political associates, and business partners for honouring him.
“If a man must succeed in life, he must have passion. Any leader who doesn’t have passion for his people cannot succeed. God has given us passion, and we are ready to run with the vision. There is nothing new that we want to do that Mr. Governor has not already set for us as a template. As a father to a son, he has called me and declared his expectations, and budget has been approved.
“We have competent workers at OSOPADEC who are working with high spirits to ensure the accelerated transformation of the oil-rich region. I have accepted this responsibility. With my team, your support, prayers, constructive criticisms, and the approval of Mr. Governor, we will not disappoint you.”
