The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the Government House in Akure, describing him as a worthy leader building on the solid foundation laid by his late predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Governor Makinde was in Akure to participate in activities marking the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, where he is expected to receive a chieftaincy title.

Welcoming the Oyo governor at the Presidential Lodge, Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated him on the honour being bestowed by the monarch and praised his leadership style.

“Akure is your home,” Aiyedatiwa said. “This recognition by Kabiyesi is not just because you are a Governor, but because you have shown you are a good leader worthy of celebration.”

Aiyedatiwa also emphasized the need for collaboration and cordiality among leaders, regardless of political affiliation, noting that good governance should remain the ultimate goal.

In his remarks, Governor Makinde expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the historical bond between the people of Oyo and Ondo States.

“My mother was from Akure, so this is always home to me,” Makinde said. “I’m proud of the peace in Ondo and happy to see that Governor Aiyedatiwa is consolidating on Akeredolu’s legacies, especially in the area of security with the continuous support for Amotekun.”

Makinde was accompanied on the visit by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, a member of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, and Chief Bayo Lawal, Executive Adviser on General Duties.
