The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has issued a strong ultimatum to the Nigeria Police Force in Akure, Ondo State, demanding immediate presentation of the corpse of the prime suspect in the murder of two students, Annie and John.
In a statement signed by the Union’s Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ajidagba Mosadoluwa Akinbobola (popularly known as MOSA GOLD), the union described the police report of the suspect’s death in custody as suspicious and unacceptable.
The union gave the police a deadline of 2 to 3 hours to produce the corpse for independent verification, warning that failure to do so would prompt mass mobilization of students to storm Akure in protest.
“We are not pleading; we are demanding. This is backed by the collective fury of thousands of AAUAites who refuse to be silenced or deceived,” the statement reads.
The students’ union emphasized that justice must be served and transparency must prevail, noting that they will not allow the murder of their colleagues to be swept under the carpet.
The statement further warned against the spread of misinformation and fake news, stating that the union’s sole focus is on truth and justice.
“This is not the time for silence. It is the time for accountability,” MOSA GOLD declared.
The tragic deaths of Annie and John, both undergraduates of the institution, have sent shockwaves across the university community and beyond. The reported death of a prime suspect has further fueled outrage and suspicion.
As of the time of filing this report, the police are yet to officially respond to the union’s demands.
