The Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom, Dr. Jasper Adeleye, has called out the Ondo State Government and the Federal Government over the deplorable state of infrastructure in Idanre, a town he described as rich in resources but abandoned in development.
Speaking in a statement released over the weekend, Adeleye expressed dismay over what he termed “systemic abandonment” of Idanre, despite its huge contributions to the state and national economy through cocoa and timber production.
“This is a town that has consistently supported our economy with cocoa and timber, yet the people are left without good roads, clean water, and basic amenities. This is unacceptable,” Adeleye said.
He lamented that both access and internal roads in Idanre are in disrepair, while potable water remains a luxury for most residents.
“I’ve personally committed my resources to ease their suffering. But individual effort is not enough. Government must act now,” Adeleye added.
The APC stalwart, who facilitated the construction of a multimillion-naira motorized borehole behind Olofin Police Station in 2021, also rehabilitated parts of the Ojota-Tanimowo road linking a basic health centre in the area.
He called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take “visible and urgent action” and urged National Assembly members representing the area to raise the issue at the federal level. He specifically appealed to President Bola Tinubu and relevant agencies to prioritize Idanre in infrastructure planning.
“This is a test of political sincerity. You can’t keep reaping from a land you refuse to nurture,” he warned.
