The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Ondo State has ushered in a new leadership era following a well-attended and transparent election held at the Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Alagbaka, Akure.

The election, which drew civil society actors from all three senatorial districts, reflected the Coalition’s diversity and unity of purpose. After a transparent process, Mr. Alo Martins, Executive Director of Upline Centre for Development, emerged as the newly elected Chairman of the Coalition. He will lead the body for the next four years.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Martins reaffirmed the Coalition’s commitment to good governance, civic inclusion, and collaborative development.

“This is a new dawn. Our focus will be on building strategic partnerships, strengthening civic voices, and promoting accountability in governance,” he stated.

Mr. Martins also pledged to unite all stakeholders, including former contestants, noting that his leadership would rest on inclusivity, shared vision, and sustained engagement.

The outgoing Chairman, Mr. Franklin Oloniju, expressed gratitude for a peaceful transition and pledged his full support to the incoming executive.

“Leadership is a baton. I’m proud to pass it on at this critical time and will remain available to guide and support the new team,” he said.

The new executive team includes:

Princess Akindutire Bukonla Mary – Vice Chairman

Ayomide Faith Jaiyeola – Secretary

Mr. Martins commended the Electoral Committee for a professionally conducted election and extended appreciation to members who participated both physically and virtually.

The new leadership is expected to hit the ground running, with a priority on repositioning the Coalition as a stronger, more coordinated platform for civil society engagement in Ondo State.

This milestone, stakeholders say, marks the beginning of a new era of accountable leadership, civic inclusion, and collective development.
