The Ondo State Executive Council has officially approved the appointment of Prince Isiaka Oseni as the new Alale of Akungba-Akoko, marking a significant milestone in the traditional leadership of the Akoko South West community.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, during a media briefing held shortly after the Council meeting presided over by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Takuro stated that the selection process for the new monarch followed due process, with recommendations from the local government authorities and traditional institutions thoroughly reviewed before final approval was granted.

“Prince Isiaka Oseni’s appointment as the Alale of Akungba-Akoko is a reflection of due diligence, community consultation, and respect for tradition,” Takuro said.

The Commissioner also expressed the government’s confidence in the new monarch’s ability to unite the people and promote peace, cultural heritage, and grassroots development in Akungba-Akoko.

The people of Akungba-Akoko are expected to begin traditional preparations to receive their new king, who will now ascend a revered throne that has long been central to the identity and cohesion of the community.

Meanwhile, a second royal appointment was also confirmed by the Council. Prince Olusola Joseph Ajaka has been named the pioneer Gbogunro of Idi-Ogba Alagbon in Ilaje Local Government Area.
