The long-abandoned Agadagba-Obon General Hospital in Ese-Odo Local Government Area is set for commissioning by governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa within the first 100 days of the OSOPADEC chairman, Prince Biyi Poroye in office.
This was the assurance given by Prince Biyi Poroye, Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), during an inspection tour of critical infrastructure projects in oil-producing communities.
The hospital, which has been left in disrepair for over 15 years, has remained a sore point for residents. Its planned commissioning has sparked renewed optimism in the local population.
Speaking during the tour, Prince Poroye emphasized Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resolve to transform the healthcare landscape in the state’s oil-producing zones.
He described the hospital’s revival as a “symbol of restoration and a major step in rebuilding trust in governance.”
The OSOPADEC boss, alongside members of the Commission’s Board and Ondo State House of Assembly, also inspected the Igbotu Township Road project linking Apoi communities to Irele Local Government.
He assured that the road’s completion is a top priority already embedded in the current budget.
The delegation later paid homage to the Agadagba of Arogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Pere Zacchaeus Egbunu, who offered royal blessings and expressed gratitude for the state government’s renewed focus on abandoned projects.
Community leaders and residents have lauded the Governor’s gesture, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will save lives and bring dignity back to public healthcare in the region.
The Agadagba-Obon Hospital commissioning marks a significant milestone in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s early days in office and reaffirms his commitment to delivering on campaign promises and ending the era of abandoned projects.
