Kidnappers Nabbed in Ondo During Loot-Sharing Ceremony

Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Ondo State while allegedly sharing ransom money collected from the abduction of a staff member of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Mr. Omoniyi Eleyinmi.

Eleyinmi was kidnapped at his residence along the Akungba–Supare Akoko Road last Sunday and released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

In a viral video, the suspects were seen counting and dividing the cash in the forest around Ago Panu, a village between Oba Akoko and Owo, when security operatives swooped in and apprehended them.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

Speaking on the arrest, the police spokesman Olushola Ayanlade said, “I can confirm to you that our operatives arrested three suspected kidnappers in connection with the kidnapping of 2 AAUA lecturers.

“The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation.

“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police ondo state police command CP Adebowale Lawal has directed the suspects and all exhibits recovered be transferred to the anti-kidnappigg squad for discreet and thorough investigation.

“Further details will be communicated to you. Thanks for your usual cooperation, he said.”
