A devastating fire on Friday evening razed the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, located at Challenge in Ibadan, Oyo State. The incident, which occurred on August 15, 2025, left the popular radio station’s facilities badly damaged.
According to a press statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, the inferno destroyed the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, alongside adjoining offices such as the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and several vital equipment.
Efforts by in-house staff to quell the blaze with fire extinguishers proved abortive due to the intensity of the fire before the arrival of professional firefighters.
“The extent of the damage cannot yet be quantified, and the cause of the inferno is still under investigation,” the statement read.
The management of Fresh FM Nigeria expressed gratitude to residents of the area, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service for their swift response and assistance in battling the blaze.
Fresh FM, founded by renowned gospel singer Dr. Yinka Ayefele, is one of the most popular private radio stations in the Southwest, attracting millions of listeners across Nigeria.
