The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) has dismissed a viral report circulating on social media which alleged that the state generated ₦22.4 billion as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the first half of 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, the agency described the claim as false, misleading, and inconsistent with verifiable official records.
“The viral publication claimed that Ondo State generated ₦22,483,369,409.97 within the period under review. We wish to categorically state that this information is incorrect and does not reflect the true revenue performance of the State,” ODIRS said.
According to the Service, data published on the Joint Tax Board (JTB) portal shows that the state actually generated ₦28,154,864,901.17 between January and June 2025.
ODIRS insisted it remains committed to transparency and accountability in revenue reporting, urging the public and stakeholders to verify financial information from credible sources before dissemination.
“ODIRS remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the continuous growth of Ondo State’s revenue base in line with global best practices,” the statement read.
The agency assured residents that it would continue to strengthen revenue mobilization to support sustainable development in the state.
