A 23-year-old man, Oki Segun, has found himself in deeper trouble after allegedly using a shovel to assault a lawyer, Kolapo Inumo, in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State.
Segun was arraigned before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, facing a two-count charge of assault and resisting arrest.
According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, the incident occurred at about 8:00 a.m. on August 10, 2025, at Abisi Quarters, Oka-Akoko.
The young man was said to have injured the lawyer on the forehead with the shovel before reportedly resisting arrest by the police.
The offences, the prosecutor noted, contravened Section 383(1) and were punishable under Section 332 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Without legal representation, the defendant stood before Chief Magistrate B.A. Ikusika, who ordered his remand in custody and adjourned the case till August 20, 2025.
