There is growing outrage among motorists and commuters in Akure over dangerous rectangular holes dug along the busy Oba Adesida Road, which they say have become death traps.
Roving Reporters observed that the holes, which are spaced about ten meters apart, are already causing accidents and near misses for unsuspecting road users.
One motorist, who narrowly avoided a crash, lamented: “These holes are not just careless, they are criminal. They are dug without warning signs and people are getting injured because of them.”
Another taxi driver added: “We are struggling with bad portholes already, now government or whoever dug these holes has added another problem. Something urgent must be done before lives are lost.”
Pedestrians also expressed concern that the holes, left uncovered and unmarked, pose a grave danger at night.
Residents are now calling on the Ondo State Government and relevant agencies to take immediate action, not only to cover the holes but also to repair the numerous potholes dotting roads in the state capital.
“We cannot continue like this. Oba Adesida is the heart of Akure. If the government fails to act, they will have blood on their hands,” another resident fumed.
