ASUU Shuts Down AAUA: Lecturers Down Tools Over Unpaid Salaries

Akungba-Akoko – Academic activities at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) have been thrown into uncertainty as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), AAUA branch, has formally announced the withdrawal of services by its members.

In a memo signed by the branch Chairperson, Dr. Boluwaji Oshodi, and Secretary, Dr. Olusegun Taiwo, the union stated that the decision followed a resolution taken at its Congress held on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

According to the union, the indefinite action became necessary due to the non-payment of salaries and arrears owed to academic staff.

“By this notice, our members have been directed to withdraw their services from all academic activities in the University until all outstanding salaries and arrears are paid,” the statement read.

The development is expected to disrupt the institution’s academic calendar, leaving thousands of students stranded and raising concerns over the state of tertiary education funding in Ondo State.
