Ondo Group Denies Crisis Between Aiyedatiwa, BTO

A newly formed political support group, the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), has dismissed speculations of a rift between Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Director General of the group, Pastor Olumide Obadele, addressed the issue on Monday during the group’s official unveiling at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, where he pledged to mobilize 80 percent of votes in favor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

While acknowledging Tunji-Ojo’s “immeasurable strategic support” in laying the foundation for the group, Obadele stressed that reports of a feud between the minister and the governor were mere fabrications aimed at sowing discord.

“The governor is the leader of the party. There is no love lost between the governor and the minister. People are just trying to create confusion. We are one family. Governor is governor, and minister is minister,” he said.

The group, which also announced Alfred Akinuli, a former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, as Deputy Director General, maintained that its activities were not campaign-related but strictly grassroots mobilization in preparation for the 2027 polls.

Obadele recalled that Tinubu secured 67 percent of votes in Ondo State in 2023 — the highest across the South West — and vowed that the PNT would deliver at least 80 percent in 2027.

Despite its clear electoral agenda, analysts suggest the group’s public defense of the governor-minister relationship may be an attempt to manage growing political tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo ahead of the next election cycle.
