Adekanmbi Mourns Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh Aladesawe

The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Femi Adekanmbi has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe, who passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

He was aged 91.

Until his demise, Sheikh Aladesawe served as Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State and Secretary-General of the League in the Southwest, Edo, and Delta States.

In a condolence message, Adekanmbi described the late cleric as “a revered spiritual guide, a man of uncommon wisdom, and a source of inspiration to the Muslim Ummah and the larger society.”

He noted that the Chief Imam dedicated his life to the service of Allah and humanity, adding that his legacy of peace, unity, and moral leadership would remain indelible.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Muslim Ummah, and the entire people of Owo. Though we mourn his departure, we take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life of faith, knowledge, and impact. We pray Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and grant comfort to all who mourn this great loss,” Adekanmbi stated.
