Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the construction of three boreholes at strategic locations under the supervision of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The facilities set to benefit from the intervention include the Ondo State Correctional Centre, the Children’s Home, and the Ministry’s headquarters.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, lauded the governor for the initiative, describing it as a timely response to the long-standing challenge of inadequate and unsafe water supply in the affected institutions.
She noted that access to clean water is not only vital for daily living but also crucial to the health, hygiene, and overall well-being of children, women, and other vulnerable groups.
According to Dr. Osamaye, the immediate commencement of the project underscores Governor Aiyedatiwa’s resolve to improve living conditions and promote social welfare, particularly for children, women, and persons in correctional custody.
She added that the initiative aligns with the governor’s broader development agenda aimed at strengthening social services and ensuring sustainable progress in the state.
When completed, the boreholes are expected to significantly ease water-related challenges, providing a safer and more conducive environment for residents and staff of the benefiting institutions.
