The Akoko Youth Forum (AYF), the umbrella body representing youths across the four local government areas of Akoko in Ondo State, has empowered 40 of its members at its annual youth summit held on Saturday in Ugbe-Akoko.
The summit, themed “Advancing Youth Development Through Innovation and Leadership”, brought together young people from various Akoko communities for panel discussions on business, technology, and leadership.
In his opening remarks, AYF President, Akeju Blessing James, commended members for their resilience during challenging times and pledged continued service from the national executives.
“Today marks a historic moment for this organization. By empowering 40 young persons, we are equipping them to build sustainable futures. We remain grateful to our members and sponsors for their unwavering support,” he said.
Also speaking, the chairman of the planning committee, represented by his deputy, Prince Ademuwagun, stressed the importance of unity among Akoko people.
“The growth of Akoko depends on our decision to work together. We achieved this summit in spite of challenges because of collective effort,” he noted.
One of the guest speakers, Dr. Bayo, Director of IPTP at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), emphasized that the push for the creation of Ose State would rely heavily on Akoko’s unity, as the group would form the majority in the proposed arrangement.
Commending the initiative, Hon. Mutiu Olawale Mohammed, Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government, said the empowerment aligns with his vision of helping young people thrive and live productively.
Dignitaries at the event included His Imperial Majesty, Oba Moforunso Samuel Arasanyin, Arole Agba I, Okeladeokin, Ajana of Afa Okeagbe-Akoko (represented by Chief Fiwajoye of Afa Okeagbe), Dr. Bayo (IPTP Director, AAUA), and the Director-General of ITF, represented by Hon. Tajuden Oguns.
