The Reddington Multi-Specialists Hospital, Lagos, in partnership with His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, the Oniru of Iruland, has organized a free medical outreach for residents of the community.

The outreach, held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Oniru Palace, featured free medical consultations, health screenings, education on nutrition and wellness, pharmacy services, and referrals.

A 53-member medical team from Reddington Hospital — comprising doctors, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, laboratory scientists, dentists, physiotherapists, ophthalmologists, and other health professionals — anchored the exercise.

Speaking at the event, the Medical Director of Reddington Hospital, Dr. Abiodun Osibamowo, emphasized the importance of regular health checkups and preventive care.

“You don’t wait until symptoms begin to show before visiting the hospital. At that point, treatment options may be limited,” he said, stressing that the outreach was part of the hospital’s collaboration with the Oniru-in-Council to promote affordable healthcare in the community.

Dr. Osibamowo recalled that the partnership began when Oba Lawal visited the hospital earlier in the year as part of activities marking his fifth anniversary on the throne.

“He sought our support in providing quality healthcare to his people. Today’s outreach marks the beginning of that collaboration,” he noted.

In his remarks, Oba Lawal praised the hospital for deploying a strong team of specialists to the community. He described the initiative as a welcome relief for residents who might otherwise not have access to such services.

“I am very passionate about the wellbeing of my people. This is why the Oniru-in-Council is working with a reputable institution like Reddington to ensure they enjoy free, quality medical care,” the monarch said.

The event also featured an interactive question-and-answer session anchored by Dr. Osibamowo, during which residents were educated on health issues such as hypertension, obesity, stroke, cancer, and ulcer. He highlighted the importance of healthy eating, exercise, and regular screenings.

More than 500 residents benefited from the programme. Expressing her appreciation, Mrs. Ige Salako said, “I am happy about this programme. Hospital visits are very expensive these days. I also learned a lot about preventing high blood pressure and stroke.”

Another beneficiary, Mr. Abdullatif Ogunbambi Abisogun, called for regular health outreaches. “We need to be checking our health status from time to time. Prevention is better than cure,” he said.

Reddington Hospital has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading healthcare providers, offering advanced medical technology and experienced consultants, thereby reducing the need for medical tourism.
