Court Orders Shutdown of Quarry Firm, Woda Mountains, in Ondo

by Roving

The Ondo State High Court and the Court of Appeal have ordered the closure of the quarry site operated by Woda Mountains Investment Limited at Alagbado, via Ore, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The enforcement, carried out today, follows a long-standing legal battle between the property owners and the quarry company.

The landowners had, in 2015, filed Suit No: HOR/05/2015, seeking a declaration of title, damages for trespass, and a perpetual injunction against Woda Mountains for allegedly operating on their land without consent.

In a judgment delivered on February 4, 2019, Justice A. O. Adebusoye of the Ondo State High Court ruled in favour of the landowners.

Dissatisfied, Woda Mountains Investment Limited approached the Court of Appeal, Akure Division, to overturn the verdict.

However, on Monday, September 1, 2025, the appellate court unanimously upheld the lower court’s decision, affirming the trespass claims and awarding the sum of ₦500,000 as costs against the company in favour of the property owners.

The ruling brings an end to the decade-long legal tussle and paves the way for the rightful owners to reclaim possession of the land.
