Following a viral video appeal by Pastor Samson Oluwamodede, the Ondo State Government has commenced temporary repair works on the deteriorated Idanre–Akure road.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who recently assumed office in February, ordered palliative measures on the troubled stretch around Oke-Aro, Afunbiowo, Store, and onward to Idanre, in response to mounting public complaints and safety concerns.
The road, long described by commuters as a death trap, had drawn sharp criticism after Oluwamodede warned of increasing accidents and vowed to mobilise personal resources if the government failed to intervene.
Fresh patchwork is now visible along the busy route, offering relief to residents and motorists.
While critics dismissed the cleric’s outcry as political, others see the swift response as evidence of a listening government.
The intervention is expected to be followed by more comprehensive rehabilitation works as the dry season progresses.
