Ondo Slams FECA Over Dirty Road Verges, Issues One-Week Ultimatum

by Roving

The Ondo State Government has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal College of Agriculture (FECA), Akure, to clear and maintain the overgrown road verges and median stretching from the institution’s gate to Agbogbo Filling Station in the state capital.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Tob Loko, expressed dismay over the deteriorating condition of the area, following numerous public complaints about its unsightly appearance.

Dr. Loko clarified that the maintenance of the affected road stretch has always been the responsibility of the Federal College of Agriculture, not the state government.

“The Ministry has officially notified the school management of the issue, and it is expected that they take immediate action,” the statement read.

He further stressed that the Ministry would not allow any part of Akure to undermine the renewed environmental efforts of the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa aimed at keeping the state clean and disease-free.

The Commissioner, therefore, warned the management of FECA to ensure the area is cleared within seven days to complement government’s ongoing environmental sanitation drive.
