Aiyedatiwa Not Slow, But Strategic Like Tinubu — Ajanaku

by Roving

Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, has dismissed insinuations in some quarters that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is “slow” in governance, describing him instead as a deep, practical, and strategic leader whose meticulous planning mirrors the early leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he governed Lagos State.

Ajanaku made this clarification while receiving the leadership of the Ondo State Online Media Practitioners Association, led by its chairman, Joseph Adesuyan, during a courtesy visit to his office in Akure on Thursday.

The commissioner said those mistaking Governor Aiyedatiwa’s calm disposition for sluggishness were missing the essence of his visionary and calculated approach to governance.

“Many people say Governor Aiyedatiwa is slow, but I can assure you he is not,” Ajanaku stated.
“He is a very practical, deep, and calculative leader. What he is doing now is building strong foundations that will soon transform Ondo State’s economy.”

He likened Aiyedatiwa’s governance style to that of President Tinubu during his early days as Lagos State governor in 1999, noting that the same level of quiet but deliberate planning later birthed the Lagos economic miracle.

“When Asiwaju Bola Tinubu became governor of Lagos in 1999, people also complained that his government was slow,” Ajanaku recalled.
“For the first year, Lagos was almost chaotic with complaints everywhere. But behind the scenes, Tinubu was planning — re-engineering Lagos, building LASTMA, LIRS, and laying the institutional framework for today’s success.”

“That is exactly what Governor Aiyedatiwa is doing in Ondo today. He’s calm, strategic, and focused. And just as Tinubu turned Lagos from ₦600 million monthly IGR to over ₦50 billion today, Aiyedatiwa is quietly setting Ondo on a similar path of transformation.”

Ajanaku revealed that by next year, Ondo State will witness major economic milestones, including the groundbreaking of the Ondo Deep Sea Port by President Tinubu, the take-off of the modular refinery in Ore, and the establishment of a cement factory in collaboration with private investors.

“When all these projects come on board, Ondo State’s economy will never remain the same again,” he assured.

He added that the Aiyedatiwa administration is also taking bold steps to reposition the state’s tourism sector, disclosing that an elevator is being installed at Idanre Hills to boost tourism appeal and accessibility.

The commissioner emphasized that the governor’s calm and calculated leadership style should not be mistaken for inaction.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa believes in sustainable progress, not noise. What you are seeing is a government planning meticulously to deliver results that will stand the test of time,” he stressed.

Earlier, the chairman of the association, Joseph Adesuyan, commended the commissioner for his open-door policy and commitment to media partnership, pledging that members of the association would continue to project government activities and combat misinformation.

Ajanaku reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with credible online media professionals in promoting the achievements of the Aiyedatiwa administration.
