The Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association (ODSFA), Divine Ogbonnaya, has dedicated his Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Ogbonnaya received the honour at the grand ceremony marking SWAN’s 60th anniversary on Friday in Abuja, where several sports icons across the country were also celebrated for their contributions to sports development.

According to the citation on his certificate, the ODSFA chairman was recognised for his “outstanding support to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and contribution to sports development in Nigeria.”

Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Ogbonnaya described the recognition as a validation of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to grassroots sports development in Ondo State.

“This award is for our Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whose vision for sports development continues to inspire us. It shows that people are watching what we do, and it motivates us to do even more,” he said.

He pledged to redouble his efforts in advancing football development across the state and assured that Sunshine Stars FC would perform excellently in the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season, which kicks off on November 8.

“I appreciate the leadership of SWAN for this honour and promise to continue supporting the growth of football and sports in general,” Ogbonnaya added.
