Deeper Life Debunks False Report Linking Kumuyi to Anti-US Comment
Church Warns Mischief Makers: Stop Dragging Pastor into Politics
The Deeper Christian Life Ministry has issued a strongly worded statement debunking a viral story credited to its General Superintendent, Pastor William F. Kumuyi.
The church described as “malicious and entirely false” a report published by an online platform, Ibomfocus, which claimed that Pastor Kumuyi had accused America of attempting to steal Nigeria’s natural resources while denying the existence of Christian persecution in the country.
According to the statement, “The story titled ‘America is Trying to Steal Our Natural Resources; There is No Christian Genocide in Nigeria, says Pastor Kumuyi’ is a total fabrication and the figment of the imagination of its authors.”
The Ministry clarified that Pastor Kumuyi did not hold any press conference or issue such a statement, adding that he has been away from Nigeria for several weeks, conducting gospel crusades across the Oceania region and the Far East.
“Pastor Kumuyi is known globally for his focus on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He does not dabble into politics,” the statement stressed.
The Ministry also cautioned individuals and media outlets against dragging the revered cleric into political controversies, warning that future falsehoods may attract legal or disciplinary action.
