The Chairperson of the 2025 Itaogbolu Day and Fundraising Ceremony, Tomisin Edu-Falade, has announced her foundation’s commitment to sponsor the best graduating students from Itaogbolu to study any course of their choice at Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State.
Edu-Falade made this known while addressing indigenes and residents of Itaogbolu in Akure North Local Government Area during the town’s annual day celebration and fundraising event for community development projects.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast efforts in keeping Nigeria on the path of renewed development and applauded the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for sustaining peace and progress across communities in the state.
Edu-Falade, who described education as her life-long passion, reiterated her NGO’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and youth empowerment.
“Every year, our foundation awards a full scholarship to the best graduating student to study at Adeleke University in any course of their choice. We are starting from home today, as one of our daughters from Itaogbolu has received this year’s scholarship,” she stated.
She added that six students have already benefited from the scheme and expressed her determination to extend the gesture to more brilliant students within Akure North.
“Whenever I come home, I am reminded of the greatness of our people — the strength of our farmers, the dedication of our traders, the dreams of our youth, and the wisdom of our elders,” Edu-Falade said.
“Today is not a political rally but a cultural festival. Yet, as a daughter of this soil, I will always stand for the dignity, unity, and future of our people,” she added.
Earlier in his welcome address, Chairman of the Itaogbolu Day Planning Committee, Abiodun Awolusi, urged indigenes to rise and contribute towards the sustainable development of the community.
Representing Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Sunday Olajide, disclosed that the Akure–Itaogbolu/Iju–Ikere major road project would soon be completed to reduce frequent accidents and ease movement across the axis.
Delivering his royal message titled “It Is Time to Arise Again”, the Ogbolu of Itaogbolu, Oba Idowu Faborode, called for renewed commitment towards education, welfare, and development.
“An educated Itaogbolu is an empowered Itaogbolu, capable of leading in every field of human endeavour,” the monarch declared.
“We must revitalise our scholarship schemes, reward our best students, and establish vocational centres so that every youth can thrive.”
The 2025 Itaogbolu Day celebration was marked by cultural displays, fundraising for community projects, and a renewed call for unity and progress among sons and daughters of the ancient town.
