A property owner in Akure, Ondo State capital, has petitioned the police, accusing a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, of allegedly invading and damaging his building foundation.
In a petition dated November 6, 2025, and addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Ondo State Command, the complainant, Surveyor Gabriel Anyim, through his lawyer, Boluwaji Awololaju, urged the police to investigate the matter and bring those responsible to justice.
According to the petition, Anyim, who resides at No. 1, Odofin Street, opposite St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School Junction, Akure, claimed ownership of a parcel of land located at Block AG, Plot 24, Arijodi & Ologunmolare Families Layout, Promise Estate, Alagbaka Extension in Akure South Local Government Area.
He said he lawfully purchased the land from Surveyor Adams Azeez, who obtained his title from the original landowners — the Arijodi and Ologunmolare families.
Awololaju explained that his client had begun developing the land after verifying the title and clearing the site. “Our client deposited building materials on the land and had already laid the foundation before the unfortunate incident occurred,” the petition stated.
Trouble reportedly began on October 17, 2025, when Anyim’s workers arrived at the site to continue work but found part of the foundation destroyed.
“It is disheartening to note that some people had invaded our client’s site and destroyed part of the foundation he laid.
The person who led the invasion inscribed his name and phone number on the remaining structure. Upon verification through Truecaller, the name that appeared was Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa,” the petition alleged.
Photographs of the alleged destruction were attached to the petition as evidence.
Anyim urged the police to “nip the brewing crisis in the bud” and ensure justice is done to avert a breakdown of peace.
Efforts to reach Hon. Ayebusiwa for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
