The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Professor Olugbenga Ige, has commended the Member of the House of Representatives for Akoko South-West/South-East Federal Constituency, Honourable Dr Adegboyega Adefarati, for donating a fully-equipped ambulance to the institution.

Professor Ige gave the commendation during the official handover ceremony held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, describing the gesture as timely and highly impactful to the University’s healthcare system.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the ambulance will significantly strengthen AAUA’s emergency response capacity and bridge a major gap in the institution’s medical infrastructure.

“On behalf of the entire University community, I extend our deepest appreciation to Honourable Adefarati for this thoughtful intervention. This donation guarantees faster and more reliable emergency response for our staff and students,” he said.

Professor Ige further recalled that the lawmaker’s late father, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, former Governor of Ondo State, played a pivotal role in relocating and establishing AAUA in Akungba, adding that his son’s contribution reflects a continuation of that enduring legacy.

He also called on other well-meaning indigenes of Akoko, both within and outside the country, to emulate the gesture in supporting the University’s infrastructural and developmental needs.

In his response, Honourable Adefarati reaffirmed his family’s commitment to AAUA, noting that the ambulance would enhance the institution’s ability to provide prompt and effective medical attention.

“This vehicle will greatly improve emergency medical service delivery on campus. It is equipped to handle critical situations and ensure the safety of students and staff,” he said.

The lawmaker disclosed that the ambulance comes with modern features including a climate control system, proper ventilation, washable bench, automated stretcher, comprehensive oxygen supply, and a fully stocked medical kit. It also contains an internal communication system, alarm, siren, amplifier, and dual 20VDC and 220AC power outlets to support vital medical equipment.

He commended the University management for sustaining academic excellence and pledged continued support towards the welfare and development of the institution, which he described as one of the foremost legacies of his late father in Ondo State.
