Two Arrested as Police Move to Crack Obesere Burial Attack in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the violent attack on Fuji musician, Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, during a burial ceremony in Okitipupa Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olushola Ayanlade, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended following swift intervention by security operatives who responded to the disturbance at the Government Field, where the incident occurred.

“We have two suspects in custody with exhibit,” Ayanlade confirmed, adding that investigation into the matter is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the attack.

The incident, which caused panic among guests and led to the destruction of musical equipment and injury to members of the artist’s band, has continued to draw public condemnation.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has commenced efforts to engage Obesere and his management team in a bid to douse tension and ensure lasting peace.

Ogunsakin commended the prompt response of security agencies and reiterated the local government’s zero tolerance for hooliganism, assuring residents that measures are being taken to prevent a recurrence.

He affirmed that the council remains committed to maintaining law and order and fostering a safe environment for residents and visitors alike.
