Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has challenged members of the State Executive Council to rise above redundancy and bring forward fresh initiatives that will advance governance in the state.

The Governor issued the charge on Friday in Akure during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed Justices of the Peace, where he commended the Commissioner for Justice for reviving the long-abandoned JP structure through diligent research and initiative.

Aiyedatiwa said the Commissioner’s effort should serve as an example to other members of his cabinet.

“This is his day,” the Governor remarked. “You too should go and look for something meaningful to do in your ministry and bring it forward.”

The Governor stressed that his administration would recognize and reward commissioners who show initiative and generate impactful policies that strengthen peace, justice, and community development in the state.

“Governance is not done in isolation,” he added. “We need people with active minds who understand the place of peace and innovation in societal advancement.”

Aiyedatiwa reminded the council that the state’s seven-point development agenda places emphasis on order, security, justice, and efficient governance — areas that require proactive contributions from all commissioners.

The Governor also restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the justice system through increased manpower, expansion of the judiciary, and construction of a modern judiciary complex currently at an advanced stage.

He urged the newly appointed Justices of the Peace to serve with integrity, compassion, and a deep commitment to communal harmony.

“Your role is crucial in ensuring peace, mediating conflict and enhancing harmony. Wear this honour with pride and responsibility,” he said.
