Ondo APC Tension Deepens as Obanla Faults Aiyedatiwa’s Aide for ‘Falsehood Campaign’

by Roving

Ondo APC Chieftain, Bode Obanla, has accused the Chief Protocol Officer to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of coordinating and sponsoring social media attacks aimed at discrediting Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Obanla made the allegation in a video message circulated on social media, insisting that the online campaigns against the federal minister were “deliberate, coordinated, and politically sponsored.”

According to him, “Some people have been paid to spread falsehood about our star performer, the Minister of Interior. They know what they are doing, and we also know those behind it.

He urged the APC State Chairman, party leaders and respected figures—especially Chief Olusola Oke, and Ambassador Sola Iji—to intervene and “call the governor’s protocol officer, Abayomi Olasanya to order.”

Obanla maintained that the governor may not be fully aware of the activities allegedly being carried out by the aide.

I am not sure the governor knows everything that is going on. He is our friend and a good man. But his protocol officer must understand his job description. What he is doing now is not part of the duties of a protocol officer,” he said.

He warned that continued attacks could destabilize party unity ahead of the 2027 general election.

If we begin to respond, it may affect the party. And we don’t want that. We know this system, and we understand what is happening. The security agencies also know what is happening,” Obanla stressed.

The APC chieftain, who praised Minister Tunji-Ojo for championing reforms that the Ondo State Governor is now adopting, reaffirmed his group’s commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

This is not the time to fight ourselves. Our focus is 2027. We are working for Asiwaju. The governor too is committed to it. Let us forget unnecessary distractions and focus on delivering victory again for the President,” he added.

Obanla also urged the criticized protocol officer to “respect political leaders, build bridges, and work to support the governor instead of promoting division.”
