•••Pays 13th-month Salary to all council staff
Barely days after distributing business tools and financial support to residents of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Otunba Kehinde Adeola Oloyede (Kendoo), has once again made history by presenting live goats to local government workers as Christmas and New Year gifts.
The unprecedented gesture, which followed the payment of 13th-month salary to all council staff, has drawn widespread commendation from workers and residents, many of whom described it as “the first of its kind” in the history of the local government.
According to eyewitnesses, staff members were visibly excited as each beneficiary received a live goat, a move seen as both symbolic and practical during the festive season.
“This has never happened here before. We have received hampers in the past, but a live goat after full salary payment is historic,” a senior council worker said.
Another staff member added:
“The chairman didn’t stop at empowering the public. He remembered the workers who keep the system running. This is leadership with empathy.”
The goat distribution came shortly after Hon. Oloyede led a large-scale empowerment programme for residents, where grinding machines, POS machines, hairdressing equipment, makeup kits, popcorn machines, generators, and cash grants were distributed to boost small businesses and livelihoods across the council area.
Speaking at the workers’ appreciation event, Hon. Oloyede said the welfare of staff remains a top priority of his administration.
“Our workers deserve to celebrate. When those who serve the people are happy and motivated, service delivery improves,” he said.
Reactions across Oshodi-Isolo described the move as a clear demonstration of inclusive governance, noting that the chairman has consistently balanced community empowerment, infrastructure development, education support, and staff welfare, even in his second term.
Residents and workers alike praised the chairman’s consistency, with many urging other public office holders to emulate what they described as “visible, people-centred leadership.”
