Ijebu Iloti, Ogun State — Widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of the Ijebu Iloti community of Ogun State have received a significant boost as the Ijebu Iloti Diaspora USA Group distributed food palliatives to alleviate hardship and improve welfare.
The humanitarian effort, coordinated by the group’s United States Coordinator, Dr. Zach Oyefesobi, involved distributing essential food items such as rice, beans, cooking oil, and other household staples to widows, people living with disabilities, and needy families.
Addressing beneficiaries during the exercise, Dr. Oyefesobi said the initiative reflected the group’s commitment to giving back to their roots and supporting the less privileged.
“We are committed to making a positive impact in our community. This year, we decided to go beyond monetary donations by providing food items that directly support daily living,” he said.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely support. Mrs. Modupe, speaking on behalf of other widows, described the gesture as a source of renewed hope.
“This is a blessing from God. We are grateful for your support and kindness,” she said.
Community leaders also commended the initiative, calling it a model of selfless service and urging other well-meaning individuals, especially in the diaspora, to emulate the Ijebu Iloti Diaspora Group.
The intervention has further strengthened the group’s reputation for sustained community engagement while inspiring optimism that collective compassion can address societal challenges.
