••• As Flight Delays Jeopardise ₦20m Film Project
Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has expressed deep frustration after spending more than 24 hours stranded at an airport in Ekiti State following multiple flight delays and cancellations.
In a video shared online, the actress said she arrived at the airport on Wednesday for a scheduled flight to Lagos but was repeatedly left without clear communication from the airline.
According to her, the first flight was delayed for several hours before it was eventually cancelled without a definite plan for passengers.
“I’ve cried my eyes out this morning. I have been here since yesterday. They delayed the flight, then cancelled it, and nobody told us anything,” she said.
Ogunmola explained that she had a film set scheduled for Thursday morning in Lagos, including actors, location bookings and production expenses already running into millions of naira.
“I have spent over ₦15 to ₦20 million on this production. Today is our first day on set. I booked restaurants, crew, actors—everything. And I am still stuck here,” she lamented.
She added that the airline had initially rescheduled the flight for 8 a.m. on Thursday, then shifted it to 9:30 a.m., later to 12 p.m., and eventually to 5:30 p.m., with no proper explanation.
“It’s painful because a simple text message could have helped. There was no communication. People just kept telling me, ‘Sorry’, but that doesn’t solve anything,” she said.
The actress noted that she eventually had no choice but to consider travelling by road, despite safety concerns, in order to resume filming and avoid further losses.
“I have to go by road, which is very unsafe, but I need to get to work. My lawyers will take it up. I just needed evidence of what has been happening,” she added.
Ogunmola criticised the airline for what she described as a lack of empathy and professionalism.
“They are not remorseful. They don’t care. I’m literally stuck in a state where I don’t know anybody,” she said.
The actress said she would proceed with legal action to address the financial and emotional impact of the ordeal.
