‘No Continuity’: Constituents Slam Ondo Lawmaker Over Re-Election Move

by Roving

A promotional flier urging the re-election of Princess Tosin Ogunlowo Ajirorotutu, the lawmaker representing Idanre Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has triggered a wave of criticism and rejection from constituents on social media.

The campaign poster, bearing the slogan “Continuity ’27 – Re-Elect Princess Tosin Ogunlowo”, surfaced early this week and immediately drew backlash on the popular Facebook group Idanre Elite Forum, where residents questioned her performance and rejected the call for continuity.

In a statement posted on the platform by a group identifying itself as Concerned Stakeholders of Idanre, the group condemned the idea of a second term, describing the lawmaker’s representation as underwhelming.

“No continuity for lazy and inactive representation… Representation in the Ondo State House of Assembly is a sacred trust, not a privilege to be taken lightly.”

The group argued that the flier amounted to a failure in leadership strategy and public accountability.

“This situation has undermined public confidence and falls far below expectations required of anyone seeking such an important mandate.”

The comments section under the post was filled with reactions from residents who shared similar sentiments.

A contributor, Samuel Banky, doubted that the poster had the lawmaker’s consent:
“I’m very sure this flier was done without her approval. Even she herself knows she’s not worthy of the continuity written there.”

Another user, Felix Adegoke, questioned her achievements:
“What is her impact or achievement since she became MHA in Idanre?”
Others rejected the idea outright.
Mide Pedro wrote:

“Continuity as how now? What has she done that she wants to continue with?”
Similarly, Akinlalu Smart declared:
“Idanre deserves good and better representation.”

One user, Olawale Saidi, went further, urging her not to seek re-election:
“Go and sit at your husband’s home. You are not doing well for your people. No more second time.”

Another commenter, Olusegun Darasimi, warned:
“Please don’t come to Idanre town. Nobody will vote for you here.”

However, Supporters Defend Her Record
Amid the criticisms, one user, Joseph Fabiyi, defended the lawmaker, listing what he described as achievements during her tenure.

He cited the installation of solar street lights in Gbekemu, fertilizer distribution to farmers, free JAMB forms to students, youth empowerment training, and food support to widows and Muslim faithful during Ramadan.

According to him:
“Performance, not noise, should be the basis for judgment. Her records are visible, her impact is evident, and her commitment to Idanre is unquestionable. She deserves continuity.”

Fabiyi also dismissed the attacks as politically motivated:
“This is nothing more than propaganda and a distraction as politics begins.”

A Divided Constituency Ahead of 2027

As political activities ahead of the 2027 election season intensify, the controversy reflects a sharp division among residents over the lawmaker’s performance and her desire to seek re-election.

While some insist she has failed to meet expectations, others argue she has delivered within available resources and deserves a second term.

The debate is expected to shape the political atmosphere in Idanre in the coming months.
