His message, delivered in a viral video, has sparked widespread conversation and strong reactions across social media.

In the video posted on his social media page, the cleric emphasized that while couples may face challenges, domestic violence should never be tolerated.

“No matter the condition your husband is in, stay with him,” he said, before strongly adding, “But if he beats you, pack your loads and leave him. You will not die untimely.”

The prophet noted that enduring hardship in marriage is different from staying where one’s life is threatened.

Reflecting on his personal experience, he said: “If I could suffer because of glory and my wife stayed with me, may God show me mercy so that I can take care of her very well. If your husband is not beating you, manage with him. He is going to get better.”

However, he maintained that violence is a clear red line.

“I am Prophet Sotitobire telling you: if he beats you, pack your luggage and leave him,” he reiterated in the video where he appeared praying alongside his wife.

His comments add to growing calls from religious and community leaders urging women to prioritize their safety and seek help rather than remain in abusive relationships.
