House of Representatives member, representing Idanre/ Ifedore federal Constituency of Ondo State, Festus Akingbaso has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to former federal lawmaker Tajudeen Adefisoye (popularly known as Small Alhaji), demanding concrete evidence to support allegations made against him regarding statements purportedly made during the last gubernatorial campaign in Idanre.
According to a statement released by Akingbaso’s media office on Thursday, Adefisoye allegedly claimed via a WhatsApp status that the lawmaker declared during a campaign event that former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, would die and that Akingbaso would be sworn in as governor thereafter.
The statement, said to have been viewed around 11:36 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, was described as “spurious, alarming, and malicious.”
The Akingbaso camp stated: “This allegation would have been ignored like the previous ones, but the life of a prominent citizen of the State is involved, hence the need to treat it with the seriousness it deserves.”
Akingbaso demanded that Adefisoye provide irrefutable evidence within 48 hours or be held accountable under the law for what he described as deliberate falsehood.
“Failure to provide evidence will be viewed as an intentional attempt to malign the character of Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso through malicious propaganda, and the full force of the law shall be explored,” the statement warned.
The lawmaker further accused Adefisoye of “unguided, unprovoked and unnecessary lies,” describing the allegations as a constitutional breach that amounts to cyberbullying and harassment.
“Civility and common sense should not be sacrificed on the altar of bitter and dirty politicking,” the statement added.
The Akingbaso campaign urged supporters to remain calm and go about their lawful activities while awaiting the response from Adefisoye.
Responding in a strongly worded post on Wednesday, Adefisoye dismissed the ultimatum and mocked Akingbaso’s camp, insisting that he is not intimidated.
In the message, he wrote: “Egbon Kevin and him Oga don smoke cannabis. Dem dey kolo big time. People wey suppose dey jail since 2023 with all their lies and propaganda.”
He also questioned claims relating to his personal assistants and finances, adding: “Kevin wey suppose dey sad with the 70k per month wey dem dey give am. Na Toyota Corolla 2015 my PA dey drive and e dey with me for the same house for Abuja for four years.”
Adefisoye accused his critics of hypocrisy, saying those “dropped in Idanre” were now seeking to silence him with press statements.
He concluded his response with:
“If I hear pim. Evidence choke here.”
