Ondo APC Suspends Chairman Over Alleged Misconduct

by Roving

The Executive Council (EXCO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 8, Oke-Aro, Akure, Ondo State, has announced the indefinite suspension of its Chairman, Mr. Olanrewaju Oluwadare, over allegations of misconduct, lack of transparency and false accusations against party officials.

The suspension followed an EXCO meeting held on January 14, 2026, where members deliberated on what they described as actions capable of undermining unity and trust within the ward leadership.

In a letter obtained by Roving Reporters and jointly signed by 16 EXCO members on January 19th, 2026, the council accused the chairman of falsely alleging that he was beaten by EXCO members and that the incident left him in a coma.

The letter stated, “You falsely accused the Ward 8 EXCO of beating you and claimed that you entered into a coma as a result.”

According to the EXCO, the chairman allegedly escalated the matter to the police in a move aimed at arresting EXCO members and other ward leaders without prior consultation.

“You proceeded to the police station to make reports aimed at arresting EXCO members based on these false allegations, without informing or consulting the EXCO,” the letter read.

The council further accused the suspended chairman of failing to properly account for funds and relief materials allocated to the ward.

It noted, “You failed to account for the salaries meant for EXCO members who were late, as you did not disclose where such funds were kept.”

The EXCO also raised concerns over missing food items allocated to the ward, saying, “All rice allocated and given to Ward 8 cannot be accounted for, as none of the EXCO members are aware of its whereabouts.”

Beyond financial issues, the council accused the chairman of running the ward without collective decision-making.

“You have continuously carried out decisions and actions without carrying other EXCO members along, which is against the principles of collective leadership, accountability and transparency,” the letter added.

Citing Article 21.1 of the APC Constitution, the EXCO said the suspension was unanimously agreed upon due to “loss of trust, misconduct, misinformation and administrative irregularities.”

The letter declared, “The EXCO of Ward 8 unanimously resolved that you are hereby suspended indefinitely from your position as Chairman of Ward 8 with immediate effect until further notice.”

During the suspension period, the EXCO warned the chairman against presenting himself as the ward leader.

“You are advised to desist from parading yourself as the Chairman of Ward 8 or performing any official duties related to the office,” the letter said, directing him to submit all party property to the Vice-Chairman.

The EXCO clarified that Ward 8 has 27 executive members, out of which two are deceased and one has defected, leaving 24 active members. Of this number, 16 members endorsed the suspension, representing a majority decision.

Copies of the suspension letter were also forwarded to party leaders in Akure South, ward leaders, and other stakeholders.
