Ondo APC Ward 8 Steps Up E-Registration as Acting Chairman Takes Charge

by Roving

The Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 8, Oke-Aro, Akure, Comrade Toba Ogunsanmi, has convened a ward meeting to mobilise party members for active participation in the ongoing nationwide APC e-registration exercise.

The meeting, held on Wednesday, was the first official engagement presided over by Ogunsanmi since he assumed office as Acting Chairman following the suspension of the former ward chairman, Mr. Olanrewaju Oluwadare.

Speaking during the meeting, Ogunsanmi confirmed that Olanrewaju was no longer in charge of the ward, saying the executive members had suspended him from office.

“Olanrewaju is now the former chairman of the ward, as the executive members of the ward have suspended him as chairman,” he said.

Explaining the purpose of the meeting, the Acting Chairman said it was convened to encourage APC members to take part fully in the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise.

“We convened the meeting to mobilise and encourage APC members in the ward to fully participate in the e-registration of APC members,” Ogunsanmi stated.

He expressed concern that Ward 8 had been lagging behind in party activities, particularly the ongoing registration exercise.

“We realised that our ward has been lagging behind on party activities, especially the ongoing e-registration exercise,” he said.

According to him, the low turnout of registered members from the ward compared to others prompted the leadership to act.

“When we observed that those who had so far registered from our ward were very low compared with other wards, that was why we called the meeting, so that we could do better and register many more members,” he added.

Ogunsanmi described the mobilisation effort as his first assignment as Acting Chairman and expressed optimism that the ward would record significant improvement.

“This is my first assignment as the acting chairman, and we have delegated duties to all units in our ward. We are hopeful that within a week, we would have recorded more members as expected,” he said.

The meeting was attended by party leaders and members, including the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement (Central), Hon. (Dr.) Oluwafemi Fadairo.

Addressing members at the gathering, Ogunsanmi urged them to return to their various units and intensify mobilisation, stressing that the number of registered members remained unacceptably low.

“The list of those registered is very low, and that is why everyone must go back to his or her unit to be part of the e-registration exercise,” he said.

Speaking on the suspension of the former chairman and the controversy surrounding the distribution of bags of rice to party members during the festive period, Ogunsanmi said the situation escalated because due process was not followed.

“The issue would not have escalated to that extent if things were done accordingly,” he said.

He noted that some party members who depended on the rice distribution were left disappointed during the Christmas period.

“Some members of the party who relied on getting the rice were disappointed and could not get anything to cook for their children during the Christmas,” he added.

The 2026 APC nationwide e-registration exercise is expected to close on January 30, 2026, with the Ward 8 leadership expressing readiness to ensure improved participation before the deadline.
