Residents Cry Out Over Dangerous Sand Loading Operations in Ondo

by Roving

Residents and motorists along the Alagbaka axis of Akure have raised serious concerns over the operations of a sand loading site located beside El-Shaddai Bible Church, warning that the activity poses health and safety risks to the public.

Commuters who ply the busy route said the site’s proximity to residential buildings, a place of worship and a major roadway has made daily movement increasingly hazardous.

According to motorists, the loading of sand and constant movement of heavy-duty trailers generate thick clouds of dust that significantly reduce visibility, often leaving the road hazy and difficult to navigate.

Pedestrians and nearby residents are also said to be exposed to persistent dust pollution, raising fears about possible long-term health implications.

Drivers further warned that the combination of poor visibility and frequent trailer movements has turned the area into a potential accident zone, calling for urgent intervention by relevant regulatory authorities.

Although concerned authorities recently watered the site in an attempt to suppress the dust, residents described the effort as a temporary fix, insisting that a more permanent solution is needed to safeguard public health and ensure proper road maintenance.
