The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged federal lawmakers from the state to see the development, peace and stability of Ondo State as a shared responsibility that demands the commitment of all stakeholders.
Governor Aiyedatiwa made the call while hosting the nine members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State to a dinner at the Government House, Akure.
The lawmakers in attendance were Hon. Abiodun Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Hon. Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Hon. Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Hon. Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East), Hon. Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West).
Others were Hon. Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Hon. Festus Adefiranye (Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo), Hon. Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo) and Hon. Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the federal and state governments to promote development, peace and political stability in the state, as well as fostering unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses.
Discussions also centred on aligning federal and state development priorities to ensure Ondo State benefits maximally from federal projects under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor Aiyedatiwa said his administration remains committed to prioritising the welfare of the people and infrastructural development above political considerations.
According to him, the collaboration with the federal lawmakers represents a major boost for the state, noting that such synergy is essential for sustaining development and stability in the Sunshine State.
The governor also briefed the lawmakers on activities lined up for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State.
He expressed delight over what he described as an unprecedented political alignment in the state, with all 12 members of the National Assembly from Ondo State and the 26 members of the State House of Assembly now belonging to the APC.
In their responses, the lawmakers thanked the governor for the engagement and commended his administration for its developmental strides across the state.
They pledged their loyalty and support to the governor, assuring that they would set aside political differences and continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ondo State and the growth of the APC.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu; APC National Vice Chairman (South-West), Hon. Isaac Kekemeke; Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole; and APC chieftain, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.
