The Executive Committee (EXCO) of Ward 8, Oke Aro in Akure, the Ondo State capital has debunked reports claiming that a Governor’s aide and some ward leaders have been suspended, describing the information as false, misleading and entirely fake.
In a statement made available to Newsmen, on Tuesday, the Ward 8 EXCOs clarified that no Governor’s aide has been suspended, and no ward leader has been removed, with the sole exception of the former Ward Chairman, Mr. Olanrewaju Oluwadare whose suspension was lawfully carried out and properly documented.
According to the statement, the fake report was allegedly sponsored and circulated by the GMT Coordinator, Hon. Muyiwa Adeyeye (popularly known as Emirate), in collaboration with Mr. Olanrewaju Oluwadare, the former Ward Chairman, and Mr. Dayo, all identified as members of the GMT group.
The EXCOs further alleged that a fake suspension letter, purportedly signed by the GMT Coordinator and members, was deliberately issued to cause confusion, foment crisis, and destabilize Ward 8 and Ondo State at large.
The statement emphasized that there is no room for GMT activities in Ward 8, stressing that the group’s actions are against the interest of the government and the peace of the ward.
Members of Ward 8 were strongly warned not to listen to or circulate any information emanating from GMT, which the EXCOs described as fabricated lies designed to destabilize the ward.
The Ward leadership maintained that Hon. Muyiwa Adeyeye and his caucus are the masterminds behind the false claims, noting that they are no longer functional in Ward 8 and lack the authority or power to suspend any leader or officer, having ceased to be recognized EXCO members of the ward.
The statement also disclosed that all the 16 EXCO members who signed the suspension of the former Ward 8 Chairman have jointly confirmed that the circulating story is fake and should be completely disregarded.
The EXCOs urged the general public to remain calm and peaceful, while advising residents to always verify information from credible and authorized sources before believing or sharing it.
