Ondo Cracks Down on Unsafe Billboards After Heavy Rain

by Roving

In a proactive move following recent heavy rainfall, the Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has rolled out a statewide clean-up and inspection exercise.

The initiative, which began Friday, 6th February 2026, targets streets across Ondo State, ensuring safety, order, and compliance in the outdoor advertising sector.

During the operation, OSSAA officials conducted street-by-street inspections, identifying unsafe, defaced, and displaced advertisement structures.

Immediate repairs were carried out on installations affected by the rainstorm to prevent potential hazards and restore public order.

The agency emphasized that the exercise is designed to protect lives and property, enhance the state’s environmental aesthetics, and enforce existing advertising regulations.

Outdoor advertisers have been urged to maintain their installations promptly to avoid enforcement actions, including sealing or removal.

“Public safety comes first. Clean streets and responsible advertising are essential,” said Yòmí Oyékàn, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, speaking on behalf of OSSAA.
