I Have No Hand in APC Chairman Attack — Aiyedatiwa

by Roving

The Ondo State Government has denied allegations linking Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to the violent disruption of a stakeholders’ meeting at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Akure, which reportedly left the party’s Acting Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, assaulted.

The government described insinuations connecting the governor to the incident as false, malicious, and politically motivated.

The meeting was thrown into chaos on Tuesday when suspected thugs stormed the APC secretariat, forcing party members to flee.

In a video and image now circulating on social media, Engr. Adetimehin was seen on the ground holding his cheek after allegedly being slapped during the fracas.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, said Governor Aiyedatiwa had no prior knowledge of the meeting and could not have sanctioned any act of violence.

“The Governor neither had prior knowledge of the meeting nor any connection whatsoever with it. He could not have authorized or supported any disruption,” the statement read.

The government stressed that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style is rooted in civility, inclusiveness, and democratic values, adding that he has consistently distanced himself from thuggery, intimidation, or political unrest.

It further maintained that the APC in Ondo State remains a disciplined and peace-loving political platform, noting that several party meetings and stakeholder engagements have been conducted peacefully across the state.

Reaffirming its commitment to stability, the administration stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains focused on governance and the advancement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the state.

The government urged members of the public to disregard what it described as baseless allegations and warned against the spread of misinformation capable of undermining public trust and political stability.
