Aiyedatiwa’s Aide Blasts APC Chieftain Over Alleged Link to Party Secretariat Attack

A Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Mr. Allen Sowore, has berated an APC chieftain, Sola Ajisafe, over comments allegedly linking the governor to the recent disturbance at the party’s state secretariat.

Sowore, in a statement issued on Thursday, described Ajisafe’s allegations as “misleading, reckless and politically motivated,” insisting that Governor Aiyedatiwa neither authorised nor orchestrated the incident.

Clashes were reported on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Ondo State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the invasion of the premises by some disruptive elements.

Party sources said some leaders were assaulted, while a few individuals reportedly sustained injuries in the ensuing confusion.

Reacting to claims that the governor had a hand in the incident, Sowore said Aiyedatiwa was nowhere near the venue at the time of the disruption and had immediately directed security agencies to restore order.

“The Governor did not sanction or authorise any disruption. On the same day, he publicly condemned the incident and ordered a full investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible,” the aide stated.

He accused Ajisafe of attempting to “manufacture controversy” and “twist an unfortunate episode into a political narrative,” describing the move as an act of desperation.

Sowore also defended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo (SAN), who was similarly criticised, noting that adherence to the rule of law should not be misconstrued as weakness.

According to him, political disagreements within the party should not degenerate into what he termed “calculated misrepresentation,” adding that governance in the state remains focused on stability and development.

He urged party stakeholders to embrace constructive engagement rather than inflammatory rhetoric, stressing that the people of Ondo State deserve responsible leadership and fact-based discourse.

Efforts to reach Ajisafe for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
