••• Says My Family is Stable
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Monday described the opposition as being ignorant for raising falsehoods against his family and wife before and during the last governorship election in the state.
According to the Governor, his family and that of his deputy, Adelami, have been giving their support as expected, adding that the family is stable.
He also said that despite the baseless attacks on his family, the people voted for him en masse during the last governorship election.
Aiyedatiwa stated this while featuring on Channels TV’s politics today on Monday.
He said, “The support is always there. Don’t forget, we are the one on the saddle, and the stability is there, there’s no problem.
“Yes, we have the stability from our homes, and the support is always there.
“But the support of the people is also very important, it’s even much more, because the people, they were the ones that gave us the mandate, the people of Ondo State.
“So, we need their support at all times, citizens’ participation, very important, and that will come not just from our immediate family, but from the people. So, all the supports are important, family, followers, electorates, the people, every stakeholder. Their support is important, so it’s not just from one side.”
Speaking further, Aiyedatiwa said, “I can tell you also that during the campaign, yes, I was there out with my deputy and all our supporters, but don’t forget, just like while you are there now at the studio, your wife is not there with you. Is she there with you? No, you are at work. So, I see that as being at work, and you don’t take your wife to your place of work. At the time we were running on the streets, she was back home there, probably praying for us.
“But today is a ceremonial occasion, and she was there, but when you are at war, and you are on the war front, you don’t take your wife to the war front anyway.
“And you know the election in this part of the world is like you are going to war. So, no soldier takes his wife to the war front.
“They stay back at home, praying and doing other things. But when it comes after the war, and the ceremony comes, then they will show up, and that is what you have seen today.
“Yes, it was a major campaign attack, but the people voted for me, en masse what do you take out of that? The kind of vote that no governor has ever gotten.
“Even though during the campaign, opposition were using all kinds of statements, using the home front, but, you know, family is a private affair.
“And what they don’t know is what they are saying. You know that there is always all kinds of falsehood, you know, in politics. All kinds of insinuations and assumptions. So, I have my own fair share of it by those who do not really know me and my home too well.
“But the people, they know me, they know what I stand for. And they came out, Airman, to vote for me. So, they don’t even look at that because they know the truth. And they have demonstrated their love and support through the ballots.”
