A trending video showing a moment between the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi at an event organised by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Ibadan on Tuesday has got people talking.
The video showed the Ooni arriving at the hall of the event.
He then went up the podium to exchange pleasantries with royal fathers like the Soun of Ogbomosho who stood up to shake hands with him.
Another monarch who was seated beside the Soun also stood up to shake hands with the Ooni.
However, the Alaafin of Oyo who was seated with them did not stand up but rather sat down and stretched out his hand for a handshake with the Ooni of Ife.
While this did not matter to some, others argue that it depicts a supremacy battle between the two monarchs.
While some argue that the Alaafin should have stood up since the Ooni was also standing, others argue that the Alaafin cannot stand up to greet anybody.
